About this property

Welcome to Old Irish Inn / Alpaca Inn

Old Irish Inn / Alpaca Inn offers a distinctive stay on a working alpaca ranch in Denton, Texas. The property features five cozy cottages styled with a charming 1950s homey feel. Guests can enjoy complimentary weekday breakfast and free WiFi, making it suitable for both short visits and extended stays. The setting is down-to-earth, surrounded by farm animals, including alpacas, llamas, and ducks, providing a relaxed rural atmosphere not typically found in conventional hotels.

Located off Highway 377/380, this ranch-style hotel is approximately 6 miles from Denton’s city center and within easy reach of outdoor attractions like Clear Creek Natural Heritage Center and Ray Roberts Lake State Park. The nearby natural areas offer hiking, equestrian trails, and scenic views that complement the peaceful countryside environment of the inn. Visitors looking for a quiet retreat while still having access to nature will find the location fitting.

The property is recognized for being LGBTQ+ friendly and welcoming to a diverse range of guests. Reviews highlight the comfortable beds, peaceful surroundings, and the unique opportunity to interact with the animals. Some guests emphasize the informal, lived-in charm of the ranch, noting that it is a functioning farm rather than a polished resort, which may appeal more to visitors seeking authenticity over luxury.

The friendly and attentive hosts receive praise for their hospitality, adding to the overall experience. The presence of a private hot tub in some cottages and the communal "pub" area provide additional amenities for relaxation. However, those expecting a pristine, manicured farm might find certain natural elements like the pond’s condition less refined, reflecting the active nature of the ranch.

We stay at a lot of hotels, B&B,and cabins and this one was my favorite. The room has a warm, comfortable feel. They did a few nice touches that was very thoughtful for the guests and the bed was by far the most comfortable I have slept on yet. Thank you for the great experience

I was told by my husband to go get a room after months of trying to get care for our child. He has severe mood swings and aggression. Inpatient says iop/php, they say autism and get neuro psyc testing for ABA, they say not autistic, waiting on residential treatment. But it has been brutal. I was mentally and physically exhausted. But when he said get a room I couldn’t imagine any where else I would wanna be but my bed making sure everyone at home was taken care of. I didn’t wanna go to a noisy stuffy far hotel (not any close to us) but I knew my pleas for just a day to breath were being answered I just hoped to be somewhere close to home in case but somewhere with comfy bed and fresh air. I don’t know how I stumbled on this place because we have been in Aubrey 12 years and never heard of it. I can not emphasize how absolutely amazing it is here. Fresh air, animals to watch from the windows in bed, most comfy bed and comforter, cozy and peaceful retreat. I didn’t wanna leave home but now I don’t wanna leave here. Not to mention the hot tub and personal back yard space. Thank you I’m booking another night as we speak. Seriously.

What a gorgeous place it is! Last weekend, we had alumni weekend and reunion celebration there. Each and everyone of us had fabulous time together. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery and walked around the farm and fed the duckings. The Regal Lama and Alpacas were all adorable and welcoming. The stay was not only entertaining, but also educational. All in all, it was one of the mostly memorable weekend and reunion. I would highly recommend it in a heart beat.

Took wife there for surprise Valentine's Day trip for weekend. Jim is an amazing person who loves what he does and it shows in how he treats his guests. His jokes are hilarious and breakfast in bed was amazing. Love the way the rooms were set up and the favt that we had our own private hot tub was an amazing touch to the room. The alpacas and llamas were amazing to feed and hang out with and learn different things about them. The "pub" was a great place to relax and just let loose and not not worry about any cares from daily life. Will definitely go back and stay again on personal note Jim hope everything goes well with surgery tomorrow You will be in our thoughts and prayers. Wish I could have stayed longer but I truly enjoyed entire visit and would recommend this place to everyone I know.

If you live in a condo, and expect a pristine movie like farm you will be disappointed... this is an active farm and is a perpetual work in progress. There are bad reviews about the condition of the pond and animals... the pond has algae... ever seen a real farm tank? The ducks love it! The alpacas and donkeys are well taken care of, and the cabins were fantastic! This was a great value. The owners communicated only through text, but if your looking to get away... why would you want to be around people? Every time we asked a question they were Johnny on the spot with a reply. We will definitely stay here again.

My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner here 3 years ago (thanks Mom and Dad for thinking to have it here!) but didn't stay overnight. We returned this weekend for our anniversary. This was a wonderful place to stay! We stayed in the Capote cottage, which was comfortable and super cute. We loved getting to sit on the porch and watch the animals in the pond. The ducks were very friendly, and even went on a walk with us. The Alpaca Experience was a huge highlight of the weekend. It was such a joy to get to feed and hug the animals. Breakfast was delicious. Jim was hilarious and so kind! His hospitality made it feel like we were spending time with a friend, even though we just met. God willing, we will be back!

Mr.Jim was very fun and cool to be around! He takes great pleasure and pride into making sure everyone is accommodated and is a great person and host! Our room was wonderful it reminded me so much of my grandmothers house in the country and the scenery and vibes were so peaceful and relaxing. My husband and I left recharged and feeling closer to each other. The Alpaca experience was one of a kind and a once in a life time experience. I recommended you read the books about the start of everything as Mr.Jim and his family makes you feel very welcome. We had a great time and will be back.
